28th Trampoline and Tumbling World Championships – Ladies DMT
National Indoor Arena, Birmingham – 17-20 November 2011

In her first appearance at the World Championships, Georgina was part of the Great Britain squad that finished fifth in the overall team standings.  In the individual competition, Georgina looked on course for a top twenty classification but a retrospective adjustment to the scoring by the judges saw her drop to 24th place. The controversy surrounded Georgina’s second pass, which after some deliberation was awarded a mark of 32.70. This publicly announced mark was then reduced to 29.90, a decision that only came to light when the full results were published.

National Finals – Senior Ladies DMT

Georgina fell on landing after her first effort in the Qualifying Round, and this prevented her from progressing through to the final stages of the competition. Her second pass attracted an improved score and allowed Georgina to finish the day in 11th place.

Taking the positives from the event, Georgina remained injury-free. Her early season performance leaves her well placed to qualify for the 28th World DMT Championships, for which there are four places available. Selections will not be made until the end of the summer, after trials at Hitchen.

Georgina will now head off to Melbourne for a few weeks, where she will train with members of the Australian team.

Northern Gala – Senior Ladies DMT
Temple Park Centre - South Shields- 6 June 2011

With a gap of over three months since her last competitive outing, Georgina could have been forgiven for being a bit rusty. However, the break appeared to have given her more time to prepare and she rewarded the crowd with a great series of passes. There were two objectives from this competition. Firstly Georgina was looking for a confidence-boosting performance ahead of next month's National Finals, but just as important was to register a good score as this was a selection event for the 28th World DMT Championships. Georgina ended the day with ticks in both boxes.

Lying in third place after the preliminary rounds, Georgina completed the Gala in fourth position overall but more importantly in one of the qualifying slots for Worlds. With only four places available, Georgina registered the second highest score from the eligible competitors. The next qualifying event is the National Championship itself, to be held on the weekend of 23/24 July at the National Indoor Arena.

Southern Gala – Senior Ladies DMT
Black Lion Centre, Gillingham  - 27 February 2011

Having qualified for the National Finals through her performance at Hatfield earlier in the month, this gala did not have great significance for Georgina. Entering the competition was as much as anything because the location was conveniently next door to her training venue at Jumpers.

Although Georgina progressed past the preliminary rounds, she jambed her ankles on landing in the final and couldn’t complete her last pass.  Her overall score of 117.20 left her in 7th place at the end of the tournament.

Georgina will now seek treatement on her knees and ankles in a bid to get fully fit before her next competitive outing, which will be the Northern Gala on 5 June 2011 at Temple Park Centre, South Shields.

Midlands Gala – Senior Ladies DMT
Hertfordshire Sports Village, Hatfield  - 5 February 2011

Georgina had a positive start to the year as the programme of Gala competitions for 2011 commenced at Hertfordshire Sports Village. As well as standing in second place after the first two rounds, Georgina’s scores met the qualifying standards for entry into the National Finals to be held in Birmingham during July. With her last two jumps in the competition attracting fourth highest marks, Georgina ended the day in overall third position based on cumulative scores.  Qualification for Nationals so early in the season has taken the pressure off, as Georgina looks forward to the next event to be held at the end of February in Gillingham.

2010

Home Nations 2010 - Senior Ladies DMT

Having scored the fifth best total in the previous day’s English Championships, Georgina was back on the DMT competing for England in the Home Nations tournament.  This turned out to be a match between England and Wales, but the resultant competition was still intense. Georgina landed awkwardly during her warm-up and was not feeling 100% as she made her two passes, but still finished with the third highest score on the day. With the top three positions filled by English ladies, England duly completed their victory with relative ease.

Georgina will take part in a regional competition next weekend at her home venue in Gillingham next Saturday. This will bring to an end her first year of senior competition, unless called up for the World Championships in France next month, for which she is first reserve.

2010 English Championships - Senior Ladies DMT
GL1 Centre, Gloucester 23 October 2010

Georgina was among 28 senior ladies who took part in the 2010 DMT English Championships on the day before the Home Nations competition at Gloucester's GL1 Centre. These championships are contested between the regions, with Georgina representing the South East. Every athlete made two passes and then each of the ten regions had to nominate two of their number for a final round. The contribution of Georgina, who was selected for a third jump along with team-mate Robyn Osborne, saw the South East region finish in second place in this event. Georgina finished up as the fifth highest points scorer overall.  

Loule Cup 2010 - Ladies Open DMT

Despite ending up as the highest-scoring member of the England team at Portugal's Loule Cup, Georgina did not make it through to the final of the Double-Mini Trampoline competition. The tournament was dominated by the Canadians, with whom Georgina had trained during the summer. Her qualifying passes on Friday night left Georgina two points short of making the last eight, who progressed to the final two rounds on Saturday 25 September. Gymnastics Canada fully justified their long trip to the Algarve by taking five of the top ten positions. In all, 29 athletes took part.

At the end of Saturday’s qualifying stages, Georgina was placed fourth of the 25 athletes and comfortably made it though to Sunday’s final round. The final was limited to the eight highest-scoring jumpers from the first day.

With her score of 30.20 on Sunday, Georgina slipped to seventh place overall. With a creditable total score of 84.3 in her first National Final as a senior athlete, Georgina has set herself a benchmark against which future performances can be measured.

Double Mini Trampoline
Georgina missed out on the final of the DMT competition, her preferred event, after a fall on landing in the first qualifying round. Going into the second round it was clear that she would only progress if others made mistakes, but everyone put in a clean performance.  Although disappointed, Georgina has put this behind her and looks forward to further opportunities do demonstrate her ability at the top level of the sport.

Midlands Gala at Cocks Moor Woods

Georgina put in a strong performance at the Midlands Gala, Cocks Moor Woods on 22 May 2010, finishing 3rd overall in the Double Mini Trampoline competition and fully justifying her selection for the England squad as announced earlier in the week.

Welsh Gala at the Welsh Institute of Sport at Cardiff

Georgina competed in the Double Mini Trampoline category at the Welsh Gala, Cardiff on 2nd May 2010.  Having injured her ankle a couple of weeks earlier, and suffering through missing training prior to the event, Georgina was unable to progress to the final stages of the competition.  Her score of 60.5 left her tenth in the standings.

Yorkshire Gala at the GEMTEC Arena

Georgina competed in the trampoline discipline at the Yorkshire Gala, Hull on 6th March 2010. Despite good routines from many of the 14 other jumpers, Georgina put in a fine performance to finish in third place overall. This result was particularly impressive as it was Georgina's first time competing in the senior age category (19+). Her score of 85.1 automatically meets the qualification standard for entry to the British Trampoline Championships in July 2010.

On the following day, 7th March 2010, Georgina progressed to the finals of the DMT despite some problems in the preliminary rounds. She recovered well, and consistent scoring saw her home in 4th place overall. With only one athlete achieving the entry criteria for the European Championships in Bulgaria next month, it remains to be seen whether other competitors will be given wild cards.
